 Hatcher's Time is Getting Short

Okay, so all the hype over Chris Hatcher has come on gone. Let’s ask this simple question though. What has he done since he’s been at the helm? Not a damn thing if you ask me. Call me crazy, but I miss the Triple Option. I miss the smash mouth foot ball that we love so well down south. I don’t know, this hatch attack, spread offense just doesn’t seem to be working for my beloved Eagles…OUR beloved Eagles. Of course Hatch came into a pretty crappy situation after that terrible Van Gorder ordeal(I hate to see that thick chinned SOB on the Falcons sideline…makes me cringe). But he’s had enough time now to get his system in place, but it’s not. Georgia Southern is 3-3 now; granted, we didn’t expect them to win at UNC, but I expected them to play a lot better. My hats off to the boys, but the play calling was terrible. UNC was on top of just about everything they were doing. I knew what plays they were going to call before they were called. We scored over 20pts at UGA twice when they were ranked in the top 10. Since when do we lose to Elon on a regular basis? When do teams like Wofford and Western Carolina give us a run for our money? Georgia Southern was at one time a perennial power. Teams across the nation knew of our prowess and potential. D1 (FBS) schools were afraid to play GSU. Now, our starting running back is 190 lbs. Our receivers avg 5’11. We’re recruiting smaller, why? Well who wants to play for us now? App State just ran off 3 national titles and a huge win at Michigan. Why would anyone want to play for GSU? Sure we have 6 National Titles…who cares…that’s the past, we are now in the present…and I wonder if Coach Hatcher is the guy to take OUR school to the next level. What’s the point in a feasibility study when we can’t even win on our current level? And can we please get a depth chart…how stupid is that to not have a depth chart….this isn’t Valdosta State buddy, we know you were a star on a D2 level…but this is FCS baby…another level from what you’re use to…I say get it together, or let it go…I’m use to a winner in my alma mater. Another subpar season is absolutely NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!

GSU football has not been the same in almost 9 years. I am sorry but to turn a football pregame around takes more than a season or two....App State has had the same coaches for 20 plus years. They haven't always won. Respect the HATCH ATTACK. We can't get the recruits we need here...maybe because the school wants to become the "Harvard" of the south and who gives a damn about good ole Georgia Southern football. I am not going to dog Hatcher because he is NOT running the ball, passing the ball, or defending. He is calling plays and the boys are not following thru. Our boys are young....from what I know, you have to crawl before you can walk...Stop being a hater and try being a motivator! GO EAGLES!!!!!!

Last year urbano got the ball 5 to 7 times a game, he had about 30 yards maybe more, not 12. I just dont get why u complain about everything. if urbano had 400 yards rushing you would still find something to complain about. Your never happy about anything. You dont seem to be supportive of anything. Sounds like to me you have an insecurity problem.

give rozier 17 carries and see what happens....You'll never know because they'll never give it to him. How many yards woud urbano get with 5 carries?
« Gator 36 wrote on Friday, Oct 16 at 04:21 PM »
rozier had 5 carried for 12 yards. now thats 1.6 yards per carry. i like him but thats a little to low
« Gator36 wrote on Friday, Oct 16 at 04:17 PM »
Two good runs of what 5 yards? and when they put him in against WCU he didnt do much at all. Also yall are forgetting that urbano had 95 in the 1st half. He didnt get the ball any the 2nd half. They use robison he didnt do that well either. I mean what other backs do they have. I mean im pretty sure that the coaches as bad as they are knows the good from the bad. i mean come on.

okay, I agree Nolley is a bit slow. He is really too big to be running the ball.He needs to be on the line. Zeke is pretty good but come on now, I would like to actually see what the other backs can do. I hate all the hype about all those yard urbano is getting. I like Urbano and he is pretty good (I echo that) but if he is the only one running the ball, he should have a lot more yards than that. The boy needs a rest some tme. Rozier had two good runs last Saturday, got the ball almost down then Hatch pulled him out and let Urbano take over and what happened?
« Gator 36 wrote on Wednesday, Oct 14 at 02:15 PM »
Actually, Nolley is extremly slow hes just big. A good defense would tear him up bc of his speed. Hes someone you use on short yardage situations. North Carolina would have torn him up without a doubt in my mind. Zeke, hes a good back i like him. Hes big and pretty quick they should probably use him a little bit more but i dont know about Nolley. Also, i dont know why your complaining about Urbano when he is basically the only productive player on offensive. You and a bunch of your friends or whoever that post on here dont give anyone any credit, yall are nothing but a bunch of pricks

to GATOR

If they ran Zeke Rosier and Brandon Nolley as much as they ran Adam Urbano, they could get those yards and more. Of course if you only run one player, they gonna get all the yards..

Here's a question about attrition...

What happened to the guy:

Ricky Ponton * RB * 5-11, 215 * Tampa, FL (Hillsborough/South Florida)

He played at south florida and transferred to GSU last year..He had 2 years eligibility remaining...he's not even on the team this year...

Got to GSUfans.com and take a look at the differnece in the size and skill of the recruiting class from 2000 to the recruiting class of 2009...It's disappointing...

Eagleman right on. I hate to bash Hatcher but friends and family coaching staff is far below the norm in the Socon and it shows game.
« Gator36 wrote on Monday, Oct 12 at 06:32 PM »
Eagleman, i agree with every word you just said. One point in the game it was 3rd and 1 and rance throws a screen are you kidding me? That is some of the worst play calling i have ever seen.
« EagleMan01 wrote on Monday, Oct 12 at 04:20 PM »
For the record, I don't know how we got off on Urbano bashing, but that's not the point I was trying to make. I support those kids on the GSU football team 100% with all they do. They are students first and athletes 2nd. It takes a hell of an individual to balance both and do it successfully. I'm Eagle Born, Eagle Bred True Fan...My beef is with the coaching staff and how they have gone about recruiting and handling players...as well as play calling and damn near everything else...Lackadaisical at best...Urbano was winded when that ball was knocked loose...the question is...he had just ran like 2 or 3 plays in a row...why not sub the kid out for at least one or two plays...if the run was working so well, why not throw in a play action here and there...I'm just saying...And then ol Hatch made the comment that it would take a miracle for them to win at UNC...what kinda attitude is that...what does that say to your players...Mike Sewak too the program to 2 straight years of playoffs...granted we lost in the playoffs, he still got us there...and we fired him for losing in the playoffs!!! How much longer are we going to put up with Hatcher and his family and friends...Rance Gillespie was an awesome highschool coach at Peach County, but I don't think he is ready for the play calling on the collegiate level...especially a D-1 collegiate level....

I am not going to say that I am proud of the way Urbano played, but I will back Gator on this one. Urbano was exhausted. The only thing that was working for us in that game was the run game. However, due to our amazing coaching staff and offinsive play calling we would get away from it and put ourselves in a hole. We have terrible recruiting and he is running behind a small line. He has put up good numbers. Adam should have had more of a presense to put both hands over the ball though. That is my only problem with that. If he covers the ball up, it does not get taken away. We have no depth, we have six plays we run a game at most, and we never adjust. we jsut keep trying to run the same thing. Either the boys cannot play on this level, or the coaching staff cannot coach..i think that it is the latter. Hatch is playing this like it is personal. I am all about being loyal to a qb, but if he cannot make reads and get it done...well, what do you do. I think that it is time for Chris to go. The only way he gets my vote is if we are in the playoffs, that means we have to win out. I am not asking for the triple option to come back, nor did I ask for it to leave. I did not ask for Van Gorder..but I was excited about Hatch...but for christ sake...how do you say to your fans and players, "it will take a miracle to get a win a Chappel Hill" He is not a coach nor a cheerleader. Irk, PJ we need you

actually 95 yards rushing is alot especially against a number 8 defense in the country. He has 17 carries that's 5.5 yards a carry, what more do you want? and im not a relative im just a gsu fan and im not going to knock the kid, and if yall think yall can do better than him or anyone of them how about yall get yalls asses out there and do it. yall talk about power then say samir baker he was way smaller than Adam or any other back. wildperson i dont know where you get your damn lies but u need to get your facts straight. Robbiboy, yeah he did get the ball taken from him and i think he was winded and he does need someone to substitute for him when he is winded. but i dont give a damn what any of yall say i think he is a hell of a player. Billyboss, he had 17 carries for 95 yards once again that would be 5.5 yards a carry im pretty sure that if he rushed for 185 yards on 17 carries that would be 10 yards a carry thats just unheard of. You go look at any running back and tell me if they average 10 yards a carry i guarantee you there will not be many so your just stupid. They also have tried other players as in Zeke and nolley they havent done anything. So i dont know what your smoking in the bong pipe but your a idiot.

mOST oFF STATS ARE WELL BELOW PAR. aND WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE SPREAD AS A HIGH OCTANE OFFENSE THIS IS A POOR PERFORMACE AND hATCHER SHOULD TAKE THE HEAT, THE PLAYERS. 3 YEARS OF RECRUITING AND NO RETURNING RECEIVERS THIS YEAR.
« anonymous wrote on Sunday, Oct 11 at 04:32 PM »
I just looked at the stats on Georgia Southern web site and in every game our starting quarter back Mr.Lee Chapel has negative something.......Damn Henton, we need you. Never in history has Georgia Southern had a quarterback that got sacked in every game and got a negative in every game. Dont believe me, go back and look at the stats posted on Georgia southern website. We'd do better starting #16.

As long as hatcher is there and not doing wh at he needs to do, I am not giving one more red cent to the eagle fund.
